It is a great entry level option if you want to get the most potential out of your vehicle with just one mod!

Key Features of the TRIFECTA Performance MY2017--2022 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon powertrain calibration software reprogramming:

While on the outside, the 2017--2022 trucks look the same (save for a red V6 on the tailgate), underneath the hood, its a totally new truck. Sporting an application-specific 3.6L V6 of the new HFV6 generation (read more about the differences here: TRIFECTA: We love the Colorado/Canyon. We love the 2017 model even more.) and 8 speed automatic transmission, our engineers had to start from scratch in building the successor to the already best-in-class product for the 2015-2016 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon.

Dyno-proven gains in power

Using a chassis dynamometer, TRIFECTA has established proven gains in torque and horsepower!

3.6L LGZ dyno graph(on 91 octane pump gas) (this vehicle is a 2017 GMC Canyon CrewCab 2LT with a 3.6L LGZ engine) - stock wheels/tires:

Telemetry-proven gains in acceleration

Using professional grade industry-standard telemetry equipment, TRIFECTA has also established proven gains of up to .5 seconds in 0-60MPH acceleration times versus the factory calibration through power gains, throttle ramp rates, and shift schedule optimization.

Driver Selectable Vehicle Modes (also known as “DSVM” or “Shift-on-the-fly”):

The ability to change the driving behavior of a truck has always been of great interest to the truck community. TRIFECTA exclusively offers the ability to change between three driving modes, on the fly. Three profiles offered: Sport, Eco, and Tow/Haul
Sport mode offers aggressive pedal response, more progressive downshifts, extended shift points (selected when cruise control system is disarmed)
Eco mode offers economy-centric pedal response and shift points (selected when cruise control system is armed)
Tow/Haul offers the factory tow/haul mode (selected when tow/haul button is pressed / mode engaged)

Accelerator Pedal Detent Delete (Sport Mode):

The LGZ-equipped vehicles, along with most other trucks equipped with an 8 speed automatic transmission have a “detent” at the bottom of the accelerator pedal travel. On the factory calibration, the driver must consciously press through this detent in order to achieve maximum acceleration and full downshifting. While in TRIFECTA's SPORT mode, maximum acceleration and full downshifting can be achieved without passing the detent. This allows for a level of throttle modulation during sporty driving maneuvers not possible on the factory calibration.

TRIFECTA Performance Active Fuel Management (PAFM) (Advantage+ or Elite package)

The LGZ offers V6/V4 mode. GM has succeeded in making V6/V4 transitions (AFM, or Active Fuel Management as GM calls it) extremely smooth, such that in most cases they can't be noticed. However, some customers may have exhaust or other modifications that cause the truck to produce an undesirable exhaust note while in V4 mode. TRIFECTA exclusively offers three options with regard to adjusting AFM parameters with this product:
AFM available/active in all drive modes (default) AFM disabled in Sport mode AFM disabled entirely
Advantage+ and Elite customers may request AFM behavior changes when ordering their product.

Optimum shifting improvements for your transmission – without “unlocking” the TCM

The LGZ equipped vehicles come mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission (8L45). A TRIFECTA exclusive-feature allows recalibration of the transmission's behaviors WITHOUT requiring an expensive, and inconvenient “unlocking” service.

Specifications of the TRIFECTA Performance Chevrolet Colorado MY2017--2022 and GMC Canyon MY2017--2022 3.6L LGZ ECM software reprogramming:
Gains of up to +41 ft-lbs and +28 WHP under the curve (and +18 ft-lbs and +10 WHP peak on 91 octane) Powertrain calibration has been tested and validated for various environments, such as cold/heat, elevation, and variations in fuel quality Power feels linear and immediately responsive (improved drivability and throttle attentiveness) Retains all GM OE diagnostics and ECM functionality Retains all OE error code reporting and functionality Emissions readiness checks are present; emissions compliant Maintains functionality of ABS and TC systems Knock detection mechanisms and OE engine knock detection sensitivity is retained Return to stock functionality included with EZ Flash cable and software TRIFECTA Octane Adaptive MKIII featureset will bias for lower octane fuels (multi dimensional airflow knock zoning and timing decay tables, not just high/low)
Specifications of the TRIFECTA Performance MY2017--2022 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon 8L45 8-Speed automatic transmission TCM calibration software reprogramming:
Supplementary 8L45 transmission TCM reprogramming compliments the ECM reprogramming and completes the TRIFECTA Powertrain Calibration: designed to work in unison with the ECM reprogramming for optimized performance Improved shift times in adverse shift patterns Improved shift logic (improved drivability) Does not shorten transmission life or increase cooling requirements Retains all OE diagnostics and TCM functionality Retains all OE error code reporting and functionality Improved fuel economy with improvements made to torque converter slip profiles

I have two parts to my review.

Customer Service: Ordered the base Advantage as I knew for a fact I would never be doing any lift, or tire size upgrade.

EZ flash cable arrived quickly with the program a few days behind that. Having done a similar upgrade to my 2007 Nissan Frontier with a Bully Dog I was familier with the procedure and had my truck in center of garage to keep it (and laptop) out of the direct sun outside. Laptop hooked up to power, battery charger on  truck going through simple install procedure. Download got to 75% complete and then.....stopped. Tried to re start the download, no luck. Truck wouldn't start either.

Naturally in a panic I put in a request for customer support and was lucky enough to work with Steven who promptly told me not to worry. Of course I did because we were going into the July 4th weekend. Thinking the EZ flash cable was the issue he overnighted another cable which didn't help. To make a long story short, the issue ended up being with my laptop. For some unknown reason it lost the connection and was unable to re connect not matter what. I then used my Surface 4 tablet after downloading a specific Windows program (as noted on Trifectas website with link) and download completed in just a couple of minutes and truck started just fine.

Point of this specific customer service review was that Steven stuck with me the whole time, and I'm sure could tell I was frustrated more so than most customers that call for tech support. He was super quick to get back to me, and quick to send out additional download cable along with a follow up call.

Product review:  While my truck has less that 10,000 miles on it, it's like a whole new truck!  Now it's FUN to drive as well.  I ordered my truck and I ordered it with the factory performance package which includes the Cold Air Intake and exhaust. The Trifecta tune keeps the RPM's in a tighter power band it seems so the tone of the exhaust is much more noticeable in a pleasant way. I have more usable power on demand simply by the transmission making better use of itself in it's shifts without hunting around for gears all the time.

Easily one of the best things I could have bought for my truck.

Here's my review of the Trifecta Advantage Tune. Download went fine and smooth. I used my laptop and install went smooth as well, just like in the example video. Flash cable looks to be of good quality. Now for the performance....This thing is sooo cool and that you can change modes on the fly. In "Perf." mode, transmission shift points are held a bit, just like in the description. Throttle response is amazing, instantaneous, and perfect. I don't know how they do it but it's very nice, kudos! Also it feels to have a little better acceleration, and firmer shifts. Day and night difference between the two modes. "Eco" mode, I would have to say seems more like stock, also seems to be not as eager to downshift as easily, which is nice for casual driving. Definitely worth the $344 invested. I also have an S&B cold air intake kit and next year I'm hoping to be installing a Mallet full exhaust system. BTW, she's a 2018 Colorado Midnight ZR2 Thanks for reading my review.

2017 Chevy Colorado, Z71, 3.6L V6. Purchased my Colorado new, in October of 2017. Added flowmaster exhaust, cold air intake, and a tonneau cover (Bakflip, highly recommend). My truck was still missing something. That's when I stumbled upon Tunes, and Trifecta is renowned for their tunes and the huge difference it can make for a stock vehicle. They're not wrong. Prior to flashing my ECM/TCM Colorado always seemed to not be able to reach its full potential. Something was holding it back. The 8 speed transmission was a great improvement over the 6 speed of yesteryear but its like the truck didn't really know how to use it. This tune fixed all of that. In ECO mode, you barely notice shifts. It's a silky smooth ride and I'm sure this will lead to better fuel economy, although I haven't had it installed long enough to gage. In sport mode though, WOW. The power is there. The tune really allowed my truck's 3.6L to open up and accelerate. It's fun every once in a while, but I mostly drive around in ECO mode and enjoy a smooth shifting, efficient truck. Best 300 dollars I've spent upgrading this truck. After the tune, you really feel like you're getting everything you can out of your truck.

Hands down this is the best modification I have done for my 2019 Chevy Colorado ZR2. The price is less than or equal to a quality Cold Air Intake - but the tune does so much more!!! It’s simple to install, even for someone like me, who is not computer savvy.

Trifecta Advantage does a couple things:

First off, it makes the 8 speed automatic transmission shift a whole lot better!!! The awful 1-2 shift is fixed, and the truck holds the gears longer so the engine can actually rev into the power zone. When you drive uphill, the slightest pressure on the accelerator prompts a downshift so that the truck doesn’t slow down and you don’t need to mash the pedal to go uphill. The transmission no longer hunts for gears, and the sloppy shifts are now quick and smooth.

The tune also increases torque and power, making the truck pull harder, starting at about 2800 RPM. I can feel the difference when it hits the power band, quite noticeable. Now, it can’t make a V6 into a V8, but it makes the truck a lot more fun to drive than stock. I am very pleased and would recommend this to anybody!!!

Sport mode is default when you start the truck, Eco-Mode is selected by turning on the cruise control, but you don’t have to actually “set” the cruise control. I mainly use Sport Mode, lots of hills and valleys where I live.

Thank you Trifecta for a great product!!! Keep up the good work!!!

2 things....

thing #1 this upgrade is a no brainer! No longer sluggish when you step on the gas. It is lively and responsive!!

Install/flash is super easy and took only maybe 10 minutes.

Thing #2....Support is very responsive to questions.  After sending the ECU info, got the download in about 30 minutes.

Thumbs up and 5 stars for Trifecta!

Thank you for a great experience!

I bought the Advantage for my 2019 Colorado. I purchased it new in 2019 and its been my daily driver. It had around 26k on the odometer when I installed the tune. I have always been pretty satisficed with it overall but always thought there was room for improvement. I have looked at a couple of options on improving the performance without affecting the daily drivability. I came across a video on youtube on the Trifectas Advantage tune. It looked easy enough to install and if I didn't like the results I could easily revert to OEM programing. I have waited to do this review until i had a a couple of thousand miles on it. At first it was acting a little strange ,but that's kind of normal when you re-flash. The more I have driven the better it has gotten. Gone is the half throttle sluggishness and the transmission  hunting for the right gear. Feels like a totally different truck. And this is with 87 octane fuel. i doubt I will ever even try it with premium gas I'm so happy happy with the results. I usually drive it in Eco mode and have also put it in performance mode to see the difference., definitely a difference. It should have came this way from Chevy. I would recommend this to anyone that would like to fix and improve drivability of their Colorado. Very, very pleased with the results.

Wasn't happy with the stock throttle lag so my first attempt at fixing this was to get one of those plug in throttle controllers for $100. worked well for about 6 months but then kept giving me codes and putting my truck into limp mode.

I SHOULD have just did the Trifecta route in the 1st place.  This is how the throttle should have always reacted and I love the pep.. even on ECO mode its way better than stock. Looking forward to taking the truck up some canyons/mountains soon and see how it feels.

2021 Chevy Colorado Z71. This needs to be the first mod you do to your stock truck before you bother with cold air intakes and exhaust systems. This is based on running regular gasoline. Eco mode is mostly stock but the throttle is noticeably more responsive. Had to relearn how to drive in slippery weather to keep the rear end from breaking loose. Fuel economy is slightly better according to the trip computer  but not by any significant amount. What you do get is a truck that drives better. This is the mode I drive in for daily commuting. Sport Mode is where you will really notice the change. The truck pulls harder and responds much quicker. It will stay in a lower gear longer when climbing hills. It's great for highway passing and just when you want to have a little fun. Have only towed my seadoo's so far and haven't had a chance to tow the boat since the tune so can't comment on any changes in this mode yet. Unless you want the added noise of an intake or exhaust system, save your money and get this first. I had tried both of those first and other than added noise, they made no changes to how the truck ran. They quickly came off as it was not what I was looking for. For a real performance change in your truck, this is the mod you want.

Great product. It is a no brainer. For the value, it is the best mod with the most performance. And not just performance. Comfort, and it customizes your investment. It is as good as everyone says. It has already been said. Everyone is correct. I could find no down side. Stress, longevity, failure....... its all good. Just like with anything, have some throttle discipline. All automobiles wear out. With upgrades, it will wear out faster. It does provoke a lead foot. So just baby it. The power is there if you want it.

I'm not a man of a lot of words in these arenas.  So said, I don't think you could possibly get more for your money.  The difference is extrodenary.  Instalation was straight forward.  And I love beings able activate it at will.  I would recommend this as the first, if not your only performance upgrade for the late model Colorado's.

Purchased Trifecta tune for my son for Christmas present. Sent info requested and tune was there within a couple of days. Install wasnt a problem. Completely changed the proformance of the ZR2. Amazing throttle response and crisp shifts. I was so impressed I bought one for my 16 Z71! Same results. Best $300 modification ever spent.  Eco mode shifts very smooth but havnt used it enough to see if mpg is inproved but short time I have , looks like it will.  John Hughes

I had some minor issues at first installing software on my ZR2. However, Trifecta had amazing customer service (thanks Michael) and we got it to work. The truck shifts like butter through the gears! 0-60 is way faster!!! Great job Trifecta! I will be buying another tune from you guys down the road for my Canyon.

I ordered the Advantage tune on Black Friday, and received my cable the following Monday. I installed the EZ Flash program, downloaded the requested information, sent it to Trifecta on Monday evening, and received my tune back later that night. I was very happy with their timeliness with shipping and sending the tune file back.

I'll preface my review of the actual tune by saying that I was using a Pedal Commander on City +2 prior to installing the tune, and that I am a fairly aggressive driver. After installing the tune I am able to notice the difference between Eco and Sport modes, and both seem better overall than stock. However, I would not say that the tune has removed all of the lazy throttle response, like some others have indicated. I did contact Trifecta with my concerns, and Michael was very quick with responding and following up on my questions. In short, Trifecta's response is for me to spend the extra $400 to get the Elite package, and then they would spend the time to customize my tune. I understand their stance, and I am not questioning it because I agree that the package I purchased was for their standard tune that has to appeal to the masses. So for the time being I will use the tune and turn my Pedal Commander back on, to a lower sensitivity level, in lieu of spending an additional $400 for the Elite package.

I am writing this review with the intention of setting the expectation for other "aggressive" drivers. I am not saying to not get the tune, but don't expect it to remove all of the underwhelming throttle response.

2019 Colorado ZR2, with performance exhaust and cold air intake, 800 miles.

90 octane.

This is a solid tune that improves the overall driveability, MPG and performance of the truck, immediately.

Although I was happy with the stock setup on my truck, I was looking for some performance gains and a little more aggressive downshifts when passing. After ordering the tune, I received the connector cable within 2 days. I sent back the requested info and the tune was available for me to download later that day. My first attempt at programming failed with an error code. I emailed the support team (who responded very quickly) and was told it was probably a corrupt download file and to try downloading it again. Sure enough, the second time worked perfectly and within 20 minutes my ECM was reprogrammed and ready to go. I really like the ability to change the mode from Eco to Sport. When sport mode is engaged, the difference is very apparent. Shifting is much more aggressive and you barely have to push down on the pedal for the truck to take off. it's like a beast has been awakened. I am really impressed with what they were able to do with this tune and would recommend it to anyone looking to give their truck that extra oomph.

Really wakes up the truck. The shift points are great and feel smooth while having that punch that was missing stock. It's really the best of both worlds. You'll see an immediate improvement in torque and pedal response when in sport mode and a significant mpg improvement in eco mode. It's a no brainer. Very satisfied with the purchasing process, responsiveness of the team and the product in general.

You made this 2022 Colorado V6 go from “Nice” to “WOW”!

Trifecta Performance,  I am just plain surprised with how well it worked

It was worth every penny to get the OEM detent and tranny shift points straightened out. Everything else is a bonus.

Thank you,

Ed

2018 Chevy Colorado owner here. Installed the Advantage tune flawlessly. Interesting that the flash cable arrive before the software was ready, and I'm in Canada. Love the tune. Love that I now have 2 driving modes. I'm sure that eco-mode with cruise control on (but not set to a speed) is better than factory. When cruise control is off the difference in performance is monumental - turns the 3.6 litre into a beast - it's so much better in rush hour traffic on the highway for example. Mostly I drive in eco-mode, but as I said I think the performance is vastly improved even in this more sedate state. Highly recommended!
