In about 20 minutes, you can increase the performance, power, sport factor, and economy for your 2017--2022 Chevrolet Colorado / 2017--2022 GMC Canyon.

TRIFECTA Advantage+:
The TRIFECTA Advantage+ Powertrain Recalibration includes calibration individualization, remote diagnostics, and limited aftermarket hardware software integration support.  If you have certain modifications which require tune customization, or have certain special requests, our Advantage+ tier offers unlimited updates for certain mods/requests for as long as you own the vehicle.

Key Features of the TRIFECTA Performance MY2017--2022 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon powertrain calibration software reprogramming:

While on the outside, the 2017--2022 trucks look the same (save for a red V6 on the tailgate), underneath the hood, its a totally new truck. Sporting an application-specific 3.6L V6 of the new HFV6 generation (read more about the differences here: TRIFECTA: We love the Colorado/Canyon. We love the 2017 model even more.) and 8 speed automatic transmission, our engineers had to start from scratch in building the successor to the already best-in-class product for the 2015-2016 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon.

Dyno-proven gains in power

Using a chassis dynamometer, TRIFECTA has established proven gains in torque and horsepower!

3.6L LGZ dyno graph(on 91 octane pump gas) (this vehicle is a 2017 GMC Canyon CrewCab 2LT with a 3.6L LGZ engine) - stock wheels/tires:

Telemetry-proven gains in acceleration

Using professional grade industry-standard telemetry equipment, TRIFECTA has also established proven gains of up to .5 seconds in 0-60MPH acceleration times versus the factory calibration through power gains, throttle ramp rates, and shift schedule optimization.

Driver Selectable Vehicle Modes (also known as “DSVM” or “Shift-on-the-fly”):

The ability to change the driving behavior of a truck has always been of great interest to the truck community. TRIFECTA exclusively offers the ability to change between three driving modes, on the fly. Three profiles offered: Sport, Eco, and Tow/Haul
Sport mode offers aggressive pedal response, more progressive downshifts, extended shift points (selected when cruise control system is disarmed)
Eco mode offers economy-centric pedal response and shift points (selected when cruise control system is armed)
Tow/Haul offers the factory tow/haul mode (selected when tow/haul button is pressed / mode engaged)

Accelerator Pedal Detent Delete (Sport Mode):

The LGZ-equipped vehicles, along with most other trucks equipped with an 8 speed automatic transmission have a “detent” at the bottom of the accelerator pedal travel. On the factory calibration, the driver must consciously press through this detent in order to achieve maximum acceleration and full downshifting. While in TRIFECTA's SPORT mode, maximum acceleration and full downshifting can be achieved without passing the detent. This allows for a level of throttle modulation during sporty driving maneuvers not possible on the factory calibration.

TRIFECTA Performance Active Fuel Management (PAFM) (Advantage+ or Elite package)

The LGZ offers V6/V4 mode. GM has succeeded in making V6/V4 transitions (AFM, or Active Fuel Management as GM calls it) extremely smooth, such that in most cases they can't be noticed. However, some customers may have exhaust or other modifications that cause the truck to produce an undesirable exhaust note while in V4 mode. TRIFECTA exclusively offers three options with regard to adjusting AFM parameters with this product:
AFM available/active in all drive modes (default) AFM disabled in Sport mode AFM disabled entirely
Advantage+ and Elite customers may request AFM behavior changes when ordering their product.

Optimum shifting improvements for your transmission – without “unlocking” the TCM

The LGZ equipped vehicles come mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission (8L45). A TRIFECTA exclusive-feature allows recalibration of the transmission's behaviors WITHOUT requiring an expensive, and inconvenient “unlocking” service.

Specifications of the TRIFECTA Performance Chevrolet Colorado MY2017--2022 and GMC Canyon MY2017--2022 3.6L LGZ ECM software reprogramming:
Gains of up to +41 ft-lbs and +28 WHP under the curve (and +18 ft-lbs and +10 WHP peak on 91 octane) Powertrain calibration has been tested and validated for various environments, such as cold/heat, elevation, and variations in fuel quality Power feels linear and immediately responsive (improved drivability and throttle attentiveness) Retains all GM OE diagnostics and ECM functionality Retains all OE error code reporting and functionality Emissions readiness checks are present; emissions compliant Maintains functionality of ABS and TC systems Knock detection mechanisms and OE engine knock detection sensitivity is retained Return to stock functionality included with EZ Flash cable and software TRIFECTA Octane Adaptive MKIII featureset will bias for lower octane fuels (multi dimensional airflow knock zoning and timing decay tables, not just high/low)
Specifications of the TRIFECTA Performance MY2017--2022 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon 8L45 8-Speed automatic transmission TCM calibration software reprogramming:
Supplementary 8L45 transmission TCM reprogramming compliments the ECM reprogramming and completes the TRIFECTA Powertrain Calibration: designed to work in unison with the ECM reprogramming for optimized performance Improved shift times in adverse shift patterns Improved shift logic (improved drivability) Does not shorten transmission life or increase cooling requirements Retains all OE diagnostics and TCM functionality Retains all OE error code reporting and functionality Improved fuel economy with improvements made to torque converter slip profiles

Tune installed July 17th

Miles driven since: 800

Advantage + tune with AFM disabled in Sport mode

Fuel is 89 Octane

Stock 2017 Colorado Crew Cab Short Box v6

8,100 miles

Want to start off by saying you get what is advertised, a solid tune that improves the overall driveability and performance of the truck. Being able to change modes on the fly is one of my favorite features. No other vehicle I've tuned supported that option.

Eco mode is like a better version of the stock truck tune. Seems to run smoother, and a bit quicker to shift down when needed. Does not stutter/chug up hills while under load nearly as much in the 30 - 40 mph range. Only on rare occasion have I noticed it still do this. Throttle seems to be a bit less sensitive to inputs at highway speeds which is good for mileage. Mileage seems to be on par or slightly better than stock. Averaged 25 mpg in mixed driving conditions over a 455 mile run. This is how the truck should have run straight from the factory.

Sport mode is a whole other story. Throttle is noticeably more sensitive / progressive. Great fun, but abrupt inputs yield abrupt results. You need to get a feel for how the throttle is mapped to be smooth, but it's certainly got more pep. The truck holds first and second longer. When merging and passing you have noticeably more grunt, it drops gears and goes. Transmission shifts are very positive, what I consider firm but not harsh. I also opted to disable the AFM in Sport mode. Made sense in Sport mode to have all six cylinders working all the time.

In both modes, it seems that the timing and fueling changes smooth things out and add a bit of power and torque. That coupled with the improvement in the transmission logic, the tune really works well. If you ran 91 octane in it, you'd probably see even more performance out of it. It's a truck though, and I just can't justify running premium in it.

I feel the tune delivers on its claims, and would recommend it to anyone. I thought it had a good performance envelope for a truck in stock tune. Now, it's even better. Two solid driving modes with the ability to switch on the fly. Eco for daily driving, and Sport for when I want that extra punch. Not really any downside.

I’ve got a 2018 Colorado ZR2 with the MBRP cat Back Exhaust and a Volant Power Core intake. I installed the Tune on the the 4th and have been very pleased with the results. I opted to keep the AFM feature on in Eco mode, and I’m still very pleased with how the truck drives now.

I’m running 91 octane with the Tune, even though it does say it’s adaptive with 89 might as well run the top fuel so I get the max gains. In Eco mode it makes the truck feel zippy, and in Sport mode I have surprised and even beat some cars that should have had no issue out pacing an off-road purpose built truck.

I do plan on throwing a supercharger on the truck in the future, until then I am going to take full advantage of the Trifecta tune, and get one for the wife’s Terrain as well. Highly recommend this tune, don’t waist your time with pedal commanders just go Trifecta.

Response from the author:

Thanks for the great feedback! We're here for you when you add that supercharger. We can tune for all three kits on the market 😀

I’ve had my 2018 ZR2 3.6 V6 Colorado Trifecta tuned with Advantage+ for a year and a half and about 40k miles. When I originally got the tune, it was because I hated throttle response and the shuddery feel of takeoff and 1-2 shift. The tune fixed that and added a lot of pep to the truck, especially eliminating the need to step-through-detent to get it to downshift when highway passing.

Steven and Michael have been nothing but responsive and helpful the handful of times I’ve had to correspond about getting adjustments done. We had a small glitch happen while I was requesting a recalibration to the speedometer for larger tires. After some back and forth emails, and some trial-and-error on my part, we got it sorted out communicating over the Christmas holiday. I emailed and got a response right away.

The general performance, fun factor, (in my case) fuel economy and throttle response are all welcomed. Customer service and response time has been great. Very much recommended.

Installed the Advantage+ tune into my 2017 Chevrolet Colorado 3.6L and the truck completely transformed into a much better performing truck.  All aspects of driving the truck has greatly improved.  The only negative is that I lost about 1 MPG in ECO mode while highway driving (91 octane).  This is a very small price to pay for an overall better truck.

Overall I am extremely happy with the tune!  Thank you Trifecta.

Regards,

Matt

We added the Trifecta Performance tuner in mid October to our 2018 Colorado ZR2 with 37,000 miles on it. The difference is amazing! Immediate throttle response and you can definitely feel the difference in power! This little 3.6 V6 would hurt some feelings of some of the 60's muscle cars i grew up with! If you want to increase the fun factor of your Colorado, then buy this tuner!

What an amazing product and awesome customer support. I thought I had given trifecta the wrong information about my speedometer reading and gear ratio. They got back with me right away and had me go ahead and install the program and see if they needed to make an adjustments. As it turns out it was perfect just the way they had set it up. The truck has power for days and the shifting is so smooth. Also the speedometer is dead on perfect!

I have a 2018 Chevy ZR2 with 34" tires and I put in Nitro 4:10 gears.

I am one happy customer.

2019 ZR2 gas stock 4500miles

I purchased this truck mainly to drive the 65 miles from sea level to 4800' and then transverse another 5 miles of rough roads to my claim, every weekend.

Before the Tune the truck was sluggish and had a terrible lag when accelerating out of a turn to maintain speed, going up the steep grades I would be 3/4 peddle and RPMs would be too high and too low. 14 MPG going up and 24 MPG down hill.

With the Trifecta Tune my truck has been literally transformed from a sluggish, RPM violent curve, wild all over the place shifting to an intelligent almost telepathic RPM/shift pattern.

The difference is astounding, I'm an old school manual transmission type of guy and the shifts with RPMs being maintained at a level that rivals high-end sports cars, I would rarely need to put hardly any peddle activation to achieve and maintain a constant speed, its as if the truck wasn't struggling at all going up hills and going into and coming out of the whiplash turns was simply exhilarating.

Kudos to the Trifecta Team on establishing such an awesome product!

I will keep this short and to the point. Other than a Flowmaster muffler, my 2022 Colorado ZR2 truck is stock in regard to performance and drivetrain and tires. I couldn't be happier with the Advantage+ tune. Living in Colorado Springs at almost 7K feet elevation, the truck was especially underpowered in the thin air. In sport mode with the new tune, it's definitely NOT a racecar but the overall drivability is so much better. The throttle response and shift points just make it much more responsive and I don't feel like I have to try so hard to keep up with the normal flow of traffic. The ability to change modes on the fly is awesome and you can really feel the difference between Eco Mode and Sport Mode on the butt dyno. Even my wife said that she can tell the truck is more responsive from the passenger seat. Buy a Trifecta tune asap!!!!

Best decision and upgrade I've made on my Chevy Colorado!!! The added power is definitely noticable. It's not a throw you in your seat kind of upgrade, but the shifting points are much smoother, the added torque definitely helps in towing my cargo trailer, and I've already seen a +2mpg in fuel economy in the short time I've had the tune installed. This is how the truck should perform right from the factory no question. The whole process was streamline and uploading the tune to my truck was very quick and easy. Took 15min total once the tune was downloaded on my laptop and then hooked up to my truck. Absolutely recommend this upgrade on your vehicle! You won't be disappointed!!

If you're paranoid about purchasing this tune, stop right now and read this.

I was extremely paranoid about purchasing this tune for my 2021 ZR2 as I found it hard to believe that it would be done correctly and wouldn't cause any damage without Trifecta physically having my modules and writing these calibrations directly to them. I had tons of conversations with Michael about this tune prior to buying it and at no point did he get irritated with all of my questions and requests for the tune. I was very concerned about the performance enhancement (sport mode) and them recommending that the vehicle would run best on premium fuel after the tune was completed. The vehicle running better on 91 octane would only tell me one thing; The engine in running hotter and needs fuel that can resist higher combustion temperatures. This fact didn't settle well wth me so I constantly nagged Michael about what could be done and whether they could tune the truck to have the tune off at all times since I only wanted my shift schedules, gear ratio and speedometer to be corrected. He ensured me that they could program the vehicle to be running with stock performance (in eco mode) at all times and I'd just have to put a request in my notes when updating my calibrations. I constantly requested re-assurance from Michael and even though I hadn't purchased the tune yet, he never hesitated to respond or give me the detailed re-assurance I needed. I purchased the Advantage+ tune as needed to correct for my new gear ratio and speedometer after installing 35's. I just installed the tune today and as requested, there is no performance mode on the truck. There is no change in performance when I switch from eco to sport mode (which is what I requested) and the truck feels like it knows what its doing again after changing the gears and tire size. The cruise control has also returned as I lost that once I changed the gear ratio. The install took about 5 minutes and the truck runs fantastic. I'm very happy I made the decision to go with Trifecta for correcting the data for the modifications I have made to the truck as the software is easy to use, convenient, truck performs great and fantastic customer service. I'll definitely recommend Trifecta to any friends that want a tune done on their Colorado as I'm very satisfied with the results 🤘

I trifecta tuned my 2021 ZR2 Colorado and was amazed at the difference. 1)Better throttle response. 2) 1st and 2nd gear feel much better. 3) Sport/Eco/Tow is a great feature. Everything as advertised. I was especially impressed with the customer service! The process was easy but I hit a snag with the software and the trifecta team responded in a timely and helpful manner. Would recommend to anyone!!!

5 STARS.  Advantage+ on my 2021 Bison with about 11,100 miles and I love it.  Wish I didn't wait until 2,000 miles to buy it.  Don't hesitate, this tune is worth every penny.  I just decided I wanted AFM disabled full time and the request process is incredibly fast and easy.  Excellent customer support!

2018 Colorado 3.6L Advantage+  AFM disabled.

Only had tune for two days now and definately can tell a difference. No more shift lags when taking off from a stop. The throttle response is more aggressive and transmission shifts smoother. Even while towing my trailer and atv down a dirt road I can feel the power taking off. When switching to cruise/Eco it still seems to perform better than factory settings. It's too early to determine the mpg's, but well worth the money over the sluggish factory and ability to disable the AFM.

I've always had full size half ton trucks with V8's. I love the power and the sound and for me, that's an important part of the driving experience. That said, I hated not being able to park in my garage and navigating urban streets and parking lots with a 20' long truck. I really wanted to like the mid-sized Colorado or Canyon or Tacoma but it just felt like such a drastic step down in power I couldn't get myself to make the switch.

A few months ago I finally bit the bullet and bought a ZR2 Bison Colorado. It's a cool looking truck and I figured I'd just get used to the reduced power. While searching through the Colorado fan forums there seemed to be a lot of people very happy with the Trifecta tune so I had to try it and I sure am glad I did. I'm amazed at the difference this tune made to the throttle response, acceleration and shifting and I now feel like I have the best of both worlds, minus that V8 rumble :) I would recommend the Trifecta tune to anyone with a 3.6L V6 Colorado/Canyon. If I had known about this sooner I would have bought one of these trucks 5 years ago!

First thing I did after collecting the '19 Zr2 was add the Advantage + tune to the truck. I did a fly and drive and drove 500 miles or so without the tune, and now have another 1,500 miles on the truck include a 1,200 mile road trip.

I mostly drive in the eco-mode which is so much better than the stock truck, better shifts and improved drivability. Have a buddy with a matching truck and the side by side difference in how the truck drives is very noticeable with the Trifecta being the clear choice.

The end to end process is quick and easy.

If you are even considering a tune, do not hesitate to add the Trifecta tune.

Tune installed June 1st 2021

2020 Colorado Crew Cab Long box Z71

K&N Cold Air intake model 63-3104

Tested using both 89 and 91 octane fuel

21,000 miles on truck at time of tune

DO NOT WAIT to purchase this tune. The folks at Trifecta Performance have hit the nail on the head and sunk it in 1 swing. I love my Colorado. I've been wanting a Tacoma for nearly 30 years. Once I finally finished paying child support. I used the money saved to buy myself my dream truck. After test driving every type of Midsize pickup truck. I fell in love with the Colorado. It handles better, more comfortable, and much better drivability, or so I thought. I did notice that it took forever to get my truck to downshift and that slight throttle changes seemed to tax an engine that has plenty of power. I read about using a Cold Air intake and Cat-back to help get a little more throttle response and power out of the 3.6L v-6. I installed the Cold-Air intake and did get a noticeable increase in power, throttle response and sound. It still wasn't hitting where I wanted. The guys at Trifecta Performance have done their homework. The truck in sport mode wants to take off like a stallion. You can tell a huge increase in 1st gear take off. It holds the power curve by using every bit of the RPM now. My Colorado just wants to get going, even with your foot barely on the pedal. This tune makes my truck so much fun to drive, and it didn't hit my gas mileage. Before the tune I would get 15-16 MPG in city and 20-21 MPG on the highway. After the tune in Sport mode. I get 18-19 MPG in city and 22-23 MPG on Highway. This was with my foot as far down on the pedal as it would go. I am in love with my truck all over again. I love Sport mode so much. That I haven't even barely used ECO mode. I did test the Tow mode with my 4,000 lbs 19FT camp trailer. It has much better torque and the transmission actually stays in the sweet spot for torque curve. Before it would constantly need my foot all the way down to even accelerate a small amount, but after the tune in Tow mode. I barely need to hit the gas to accelerate and it has noticeably more torque. It doesn't want to shift into 8th gear at 30 MPH. Then it hits the right gear to keep the RPM between 3,000 and 4,000. I can't say enough good about what this product provides. I have only put about 400 miles on my truck since the tune, but can't seem to find a down side to any of the settings in this tune. Thank you very much for helping to make my truck so much fun. I am still gonna install a good Cat-Back since this stock truck has almost no exhaust sound and I want it to sound like a truck. Plus a 40 horse increase is gonna be great with this new tune.  I bought the Advantage+ knowing that I already have purchased a 3 inch front 2 inch back lift, but waiting for my 35,000 mile warranty to run out. I can't wait to see what the lift and bigger tires do for 4 wheeling. It will be nice to get a tune to help with speedometer and ratio adjustments. I am a very satisfied customer and I will recommend Trifecta Performance to any of my GM driving friends. My only complaint is I can't afford my Camaro SS to test their tune on. Maybe in the next couple of years.

2018 Colorado ZR2 3.6L, 35's, 4.10 Gears:  The Advantage tune has been great!  Can feel significant improvement in performance (and sound of engine) in sport mode, and in eco mode it is nice to have my cruise control back.  I did have an unrelated Service 4wd error, so I removed the tune, back to the stock config, took it to the dealership, they could not determine the problem and had to work directly with Chevrolet, who step by step went through all the wiring, switches, sensors, tubes, and did not find a problem.  Then Chevrolet said to replace the Encoder Shift Actuator, and that finally solved the problem.  No tune detected, all work done under bumper to bumper warranty.

Awesome tune Trifecta!

Thanks!

PS it would be really great if you could figure a way to allow cruise control in sport mode, as well as using it in eco!

The tune really made my truck what it should of been from the factory. In sport mode there is a definite power upgrade plus a more smoother transmission shifting! Definitely recommend!

2018 Colorado CRW LB 3.6L LGZ, AFM active in all modes

0-13,000 miles - all stock avg mph 18.2

@ 13,000 miles installed performance exhaust, K&N OE replacement air filter

@ 16,200 miles avg mpg 19.3 with 87 octane

Tuned Installed 9/2020 @ 16,200 miles

@ 18,500 miles avg mpg 18.7.  was holding 19.2 until adding winter fuel and increasing idle time for warm up using 89 octane.  In stock form the truck was avg low 17mpg during the winter.  Driving includes occasionally towing 2 watercraft, work and errands and trips to the ski resort during the winter.

95% of the time truck is driven in sport mode.  On one fall 200 mile round trip to a mountain resort,  2500' to 5000' and WOT on long grade climb, avg mpg 25.0 at end of trip, it was sitting on +27 before pushing it on the climb.  This is a 55 to 65 mph road network plus town driving.

The sport mode is a joy to drive.  And the AFM kicks in when climbing grades at slower speeds which it never did in stock form.  I wanted to see how often the AFM technology is used when in sport to gain all around fuel improvements.  The improvements are way better than I could have expected.  ECO is great, drives much better than stock and I use it during cruise control need but sport mode is just more fun. The shift points and torque management is remarkable and very well executed with this tune - kudos to Trifecta for bringing this V6 to life!

I have a 2020 ZR2 and I just downloaded the trifecta tune! Amazing change in the mid range and overall drivability. I wish I would’ve done this sooner! I’m hoping they come out with a tune for my 2017 ZL1 Camero. Thanks trifecta!  PS Eight speed transmission now shifts  like a dream.

2019 Colorado RST Crew Cab V6 lifted with 32.5" tires

Advantage + tune with AFM disabled in Sport mode

Miles driven: 5000

Fuel : 93 Octane

Hands down best bang for your buck modification on a naturally aspirated V6, driveability and power delivery has greatly improved. I originally purchased  the Trifecta tune to help improve  midrange torque  not expecting a complete transformation of the vehicle and waited 5000 miles (various driving scenarios) to review. All expectations were met and the complete transformation of the truck continues to deliver while in sport mode.

Fuel economy has not changed but has not decreased with the addition of larger tires and removal of the front spoiler. Avg. 20.7 with spirited driving.

Purchasing process was fast and easy, installation time less than 10 minutes... very happy with the product and  Trifecta team!

Highly Recommend.

Have the Trifecta tune on my 2020 ZR2 3.6L V6 and it has made a world of difference. I strongly suggest this tune to all ZR2 owners as a priority mod! Even in the ECO Mode the trucks drivability is so much better. These 8 speed transmissions tend to “hunt” for gears and the stock shift pattern is lousy at best. The shifting is much improved and no more hunting for gears! Then there is the Sport Mode and oh man is the truck fun to drive in this mode! The combination of the changes to the shifting and the responsiveness of the throttle the truck now feels like the performance truck I was seeking when I bought the ZR2! After thousands of dollars spent in mods for my ZR2 this tune is the best money I have spent on it!
