TRIFECTA presents: Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon MY2017--2022 Powertrain Calibration Reprogramming

As the established industry leading aftermarket calibration product for the 2015-2016 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, TRIFECTA is pleased to announce the immediate availability of the MY2017--2022 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon performance calibration product!

In about 20 minutes, you can increase the performance, power, sport factor, and economy for your 2017--2022 Chevrolet Colorado / 2017--2022 GMC Canyon.

TRIFECTA Advantage+:
The TRIFECTA Advantage+ Powertrain Recalibration includes calibration individualization, remote diagnostics, and limited aftermarket hardware software integration support.  If you have certain modifications which require tune customization, or have certain special requests, our Advantage+ tier offers unlimited updates for certain mods/requests for as long as you own the vehicle.

Key Features of the TRIFECTA Performance MY2017--2022 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon powertrain calibration software reprogramming:

While on the outside, the 2017--2022 trucks look the same (save for a red V6 on the tailgate), underneath the hood, its a totally new truck. Sporting an application-specific 3.6L V6 of the new HFV6 generation (read more about the differences here: TRIFECTA: We love the Colorado/Canyon. We love the 2017 model even more.) and 8 speed automatic transmission, our engineers had to start from scratch in building the successor to the already best-in-class product for the 2015-2016 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon.

Dyno-proven gains in power

Using a chassis dynamometer, TRIFECTA has established proven gains in torque and horsepower!

3.6L LGZ dyno graph(on 91 octane pump gas) (this vehicle is a 2017 GMC Canyon CrewCab 2LT with a 3.6L LGZ engine) - stock wheels/tires:

Telemetry-proven gains in acceleration

Using professional grade industry-standard telemetry equipment, TRIFECTA has also established proven gains of up to .5 seconds in 0-60MPH acceleration times versus the factory calibration through power gains, throttle ramp rates, and shift schedule optimization.

Driver Selectable Vehicle Modes (also known as “DSVM” or “Shift-on-the-fly”):

The ability to change the driving behavior of a truck has always been of great interest to the truck community. TRIFECTA exclusively offers the ability to change between three driving modes, on the fly. Three profiles offered: Sport, Eco, and Tow/Haul
Sport mode offers aggressive pedal response, more progressive downshifts, extended shift points (selected when cruise control system is disarmed)
Eco mode offers economy-centric pedal response and shift points (selected when cruise control system is armed)
Tow/Haul offers the factory tow/haul mode (selected when tow/haul button is pressed / mode engaged)

Accelerator Pedal Detent Delete (Sport Mode):

The LGZ-equipped vehicles, along with most other trucks equipped with an 8 speed automatic transmission have a “detent” at the bottom of the accelerator pedal travel. On the factory calibration, the driver must consciously press through this detent in order to achieve maximum acceleration and full downshifting. While in TRIFECTA's SPORT mode, maximum acceleration and full downshifting can be achieved without passing the detent. This allows for a level of throttle modulation during sporty driving maneuvers not possible on the factory calibration.

TRIFECTA Performance Active Fuel Management (PAFM) (Advantage+ or Elite package)

The LGZ offers V6/V4 mode. GM has succeeded in making V6/V4 transitions (AFM, or Active Fuel Management as GM calls it) extremely smooth, such that in most cases they can't be noticed. However, some customers may have exhaust or other modifications that cause the truck to produce an undesirable exhaust note while in V4 mode. TRIFECTA exclusively offers three options with regard to adjusting AFM parameters with this product:
AFM available/active in all drive modes (default) AFM disabled in Sport mode AFM disabled entirely
Advantage+ and Elite customers may request AFM behavior changes when ordering their product.

Optimum shifting improvements for your transmission – without “unlocking” the TCM

The LGZ equipped vehicles come mated to an 8 speed automatic transmission (8L45). A TRIFECTA exclusive-feature allows recalibration of the transmission's behaviors WITHOUT requiring an expensive, and inconvenient “unlocking” service.

Specifications of the TRIFECTA Performance Chevrolet Colorado MY2017--2022 and GMC Canyon MY2017--2022 3.6L LGZ ECM software reprogramming:
Gains of up to +41 ft-lbs and +28 WHP under the curve (and +18 ft-lbs and +10 WHP peak on 91 octane) Powertrain calibration has been tested and validated for various environments, such as cold/heat, elevation, and variations in fuel quality Power feels linear and immediately responsive (improved drivability and throttle attentiveness) Retains all GM OE diagnostics and ECM functionality Retains all OE error code reporting and functionality Emissions readiness checks are present; emissions compliant Maintains functionality of ABS and TC systems Knock detection mechanisms and OE engine knock detection sensitivity is retained Return to stock functionality included with EZ Flash cable and software TRIFECTA Octane Adaptive MKIII featureset will bias for lower octane fuels (multi dimensional airflow knock zoning and timing decay tables, not just high/low)
Specifications of the TRIFECTA Performance MY2017--2022 Chevrolet Colorado / GMC Canyon 8L45 8-Speed automatic transmission TCM calibration software reprogramming:
Supplementary 8L45 transmission TCM reprogramming compliments the ECM reprogramming and completes the TRIFECTA Powertrain Calibration: designed to work in unison with the ECM reprogramming for optimized performance Improved shift times in adverse shift patterns Improved shift logic (improved drivability) Does not shorten transmission life or increase cooling requirements Retains all OE diagnostics and TCM functionality Retains all OE error code reporting and functionality Improved fuel economy with improvements made to torque converter slip profiles
Installation Notes:
Estimated installation time of ~20 minutes
Premium fuel is recommended for maximum power output, but not required

Wow! I don’t know why I waited so long. I installed the Advantage + a couple weeks ago on my 18 Colorado Centennial. The process was very easy and didn’t take long at all. It completely changed the truck. It’s actually fun to drive now! I had to do a couple other upgrades to compliment the tune. I added a cold air intake and cat back exhaust. The gas mileage is up a little, would probably even be better if I wasn’t having so much fun. Overall I am super happy with Trifecta.

Can’t get any easier. Installed May 2020. 8500 miles

Very easy to perform procedure.  Took less than ten minutes to complete process. I noticed better throttle response and awesome feel in the shifting of transmission. (Before very clunky and searching for gears). Its been close to two months since install. I use the sport mode occasionally. It will take off like a jet running down the runway. Quick response and overall better performance.

Spectacular!! That's the only way to explain the Trifecta tune. I bought the mid level tune mainly for the tire size calibration. The tune itself was worth it the way it freed up power. Now the truck can get out of it's own way. Super easy to install, great customer service. I'd def recommend this to anyone.

2019- v6, mbrp exhaust, flowmaster cai, 5.5" zone lift, 33" AT3W. 16700 mi.

I installed the tune this morning, left work and drove all over town. Here are my views on the Trifecta Chevrolet Colorado - 3.6L - Advantage+ for my 2019 ZR2.

The setup was super easy, I got the tuner 4 days after ordering it. Next, I sent my ECM code that the tuner read. I got my tune in a matter of hours.

I was ready to install it. Not knowing how long the flashing process was, I plugged in a trickle charger I had laying around my home to make sure I didn't experience any power outages. To be honest, it was overkill as the flash took 5 minutes tops.

Install complete! I was so excited to turn the motor on and drive it.

My first impression was the throttle is so much more responsive. Gone are the days, I would squish a sponge waiting for the engine to get the signal on a 56k dial-up modem saying go. The response and the additional powers are night and day difference to the point where you need to re-learn the pedal response as you look like a jack ass burning out trying to park lol.

On the freeway the downshifts are quick and the torque is so readily available that your traction control kicks in and throttles you down when you mash the throttle.

In a 0-60 situation, I feel the 41LB lb-ft torque on my butt dyno through the mid RPM band, and the 10whp up top. The engine sounds meaner and has enough power to get you going no matter the RPM and gear you are in.

All this was done in the sport mode. In the economy mode, you feel the same thing, but it is tamed down, and your revs don't go up as high.

But let us keep it real. I want to set the expectation clear. While everything above is correct. Don't set your expectations too high. This will not light up your tires in a cloud of smoke down the highway. Also, you may or may not feel the extra power.

What you do experience is simply better drivability. The car comes alive and is more fun to drive, the throttle response is instant. I wouldn't even consider a pedal commander after this tune. The shifts are fast and smooth. It downshifts into the perfect gear and doesn't struggle to find the right gear. To put it simply, the cars not lazy anymore.

As a gearhead, I have to give credit to Trifecta. I've owned and tuned multiple performance and daily drivers. From the new model, Mustang GT's to a BMW 550 V8 Biturbo. This is the first time I genuinely enjoy daily driving the car even more. I feel that not only did Trifecta tune this car for more power. But they completely redid the engine mapping to make this truck more fun to drive.

I am thrilled with my purchase, and I highly recommend it to anyone who is considering one.

I had some experience with Trifecta on my 2013 Cruze 2LT manual so I already knew about their great customer service and reliable tune!

When I got my 2018 Colorado ZR2 back in February 2019, and coming from a 2017 Camaro SS,  I knew that a tune was going to be on my list for improved performance.  While definitely not quite there compared to the Camaro (lol!) it really woke up the Colorado!  I got the the AFM delete in Sport version and I was really surprised that my mileage still went up from stock.  You can imagine the improvements in Eco mode!  Wow - I'm well into the 20 mpg range now and when I can keep my foot out of Sport mode, I'm still at almost 20 mpg with a big grin on my face!  Forget Pedal Commanders, this tune really makes the throttle response much better!  With my Flowmaster CAI and Catback exhaust, I now have a nice little growl and a truck that can get out of it's own way!

Thanks Trifecta!

Tune was installed March 29th, 2019 on a 100% stock 2018 Colorado LT Ext Cab V6. It has a little over 4,000 miles.

I had the Torque Converter "Shudder Issue" and had the latest GM TSB 18-NA-355 performed on the 8L45 8 speed transmission. This fixed the problem but I wanted to do some preventive maintenance by installing the tune. I mainly wanted to disable AFM in all modes because of the effects it has on the transmission. The tune is solid and the transmission works like it's supposed to holding gears longer, shifting and down shifting correctly. I mainly drive in Eco Mode and the mileage is about the same which is remarkable seeing as AFM is disabled and gears are held longer.

Now I have the competitions software and have used it since 2003. It would have cost me $200.00 to get a license and another $200.00 and the loss of my vehicle for 2 weeks to be able to tune the transmission. It would have also cost me a bunch of time tuning and testing and driving illegally. I didn't have to do that! This tune does everything I wanted to do and saved me a lot of time. I have the Advantage + tune and the truck is 100% stock. I highly recommend this tune for a stock vehicle.

Advantage + tune with AFM disabled in Sport mode

Stock - I hated the way the truck drove.

Tuned - the truck drives like it should have from the factory. Sport is a bunch of fun.

Do not wait. Do not hesitate.

Have logged 1800 miles on my 18 Z71 since flashing this tune. averaging 18.5-19MPG so far while in sport mode 90% of the time and a mix of city/hwy roughly 60/40. Only other mod is a K&N plenum tube and filter.

The truck is a different vehicle in sport mode! Feels much quicker, hold gears longer at partial throttle, and feels like it has a good bit more power. Much more fun to drive.

I love my Advantage+ tune on my 2017 Colorado V6. The sport mode is raucous, and the eco mode shifts much closer to stock, but still feels like major gains when driving. I actually spend most of my time in eco mode. I can't say enough good things about the Trifecta, it gives the best of both worlds, so to speak, and the customer service feedback is great as well. I've had it for about a year now, and only recently came across an issue where my truck started running and shifting funny. Originally, I figured the ECU had just relearned some of its old habits, so I re-flashed the tune. It was still off, so I thought maybe we did it wrong (I have to use a friends laptop to upload it). It turns out the tune was probably fine all along, and I believe the problem was just a bad tank of gas or two, because it has sorted itself out on its own. I only mention that so if anyone else runs into something like that, they can start their potential fix by getting some different gas. Thanks again, Trifecta!

I just finished installing a Trifecta Advantage plus tune on my 2017 Colorado 3.6 V-6 with the 8 speed automatic transmission. After providing Trifecta with the necessary vehicle ECM module info, the download was flawless . I immediately took my Colorado out for a road test and was very pleased with the change in performance. Accelerating out onto the highway it holds first and second gear a little longer than stock, and under WOT, the shifts are firmer. I was critical of my vehicle's performance at speeds around 40 mph, as when attempting to accelerate, the transmission felt like it was stuck in a higher gear and lugging until you did a forced downshift. With the Trifecta tune, the vehicle is already in a lower gear or depressing the accelerator slightly produces a almost imperceptible downshift. The extra torque the tune produces is also evident at lower speeds when a downshift is not necessary. Engaging "shift on the fly" is accomplished by turning the cruise control on and off. If driving along in Sport mode (cruise control off) and switching to Eco mode (cruise control on), the transmission will immediately shift into a higher more economical gear with a corresponding drop in rpm.

I would recommend this Trifecta tune for anyone seeking a performance upgrade to their 2017 Colorado V-6.

I watched some videos on YouTube that had positive reviews but difference in just a small power boost and the transmission shift tuning woke up my sleep truck. I also had a fast experience from purchase to having the tune in my truck and driving in less than five days ( and that’s getting it to Canada eh!)

Thanks!

Installed the "Advantage + tune with AFM disabled in Sport mode" to my 2022 Colorado Z71 Midnight Edition Shortbed Crew Cab a month ago, and running on 91 Octane.
Other minor mods include Cold Air Intake and Wind Booster Throttle Controller set to "Sport 9."

Truck is actually fun to drive, and the performance since the tune has been impressive for a V6 midsize truck.
Mileage has also improved from 18mpg to 22mpg.

Thank you for the outstanding boost in performance and mileage, Trifecta!

So far I'm only at 10000 miles, and only been on the tune for roughly 1000 miles.
We'll see how it holds up as I put more miles on her.

The Trifecta tune has been a huge upgrade to the Truck. The throttle response is greatly improved, regardless of what mode it is in. There's a massive difference in low-mid range torque. Mix in the torque with changes to the transmission tuning, and it's much better around town and cruising on the freeway (no more downshifts because of a minor elevation change on the freeway). It also made my tire change a breeze. MPH, MPG are spot on. I am getting better gas mileage even after upgrading to 32's with a harsher tread pattern.

Absolutely recommend this tune if you have a Canyon or Colorado.

Just installed Advantage + tune and even though I have only taken a test run I can already feel that the sluggishness is gone. The transmission shift points are perfect for My 2022 Colorado Bison V6 and sport mode is how a ZR2 should have come from the factory. Easy install and great service from Trifecta. Time will tell if it was worth the price and I will review again in a month or two

I have to praise trifect for providing such a necessary upgrade.  I paired this tune with GM cold air intake and Borla S-type cat back exaust. The intake and exaust had little effect after installation, besides added sound.

The tune was instantly noticeable and  without doubt a huge improvement over stock.  The other comments here explain all the benefits.

Needles to say, I am stoked that I have two mean trifeta tuned Chevys in my garage.  Thank you team Trifecta.

This tune is not holy smokes there is a supercharger under the hood but the team at Trifecta know what they are doing (GM should hire them).  Throttle response and seat of the pants feel is incredible, what this truck should of been from factory.  This is one of the last mods I did and it should have been the first, if you are like me and a little hesitant don't be, you will not regret it.  This tune is an absolute must, now my truck is a truly a joy to drive.  I had a few questions and the response from Trifecta was immediate, great job on the tune and thank you Trifecta!

Well I waited a while to write this because I wanted to see how it did with all grades if gas and in both modes as well as how hard I stay in the pedal well I can say this is a great time I can see where some mods could be made to make it better like it is alittle rough going uphill at about 30 the acceleration is not smooth at all and exhaust sounds bad but becides for that and smoothing out the eco mode acceleration would be all I can say could make this any better and gas mileage GM driving easy in eco my best average was 32mpg and driving in sport mode is just a blast it pulls through all gears

Meets most expectations

2020 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison / V-6 / 8-Speed Auto - 33" BFG KM3 (+2 oversize from factory) - Factory Gearing -  Alu Cab Canopy Camper and Accessories (approximately 780lbs)

Miles - 12, 260

Miles driven since install 1020.00

5 Star - Customer Support

5 Star - Speedometer Calibration

3 Star - Cost

3 Star - Performance

The Advantage Plus has met all of my expectation on ease of use, ease of installation and speedometer calibration, however has come up a little short on performance and value.  While there is a noticeable difference is throttle response and shift points there are some deficiencies that are bothersome to me in my application. The most noticeable and disappointing is the performance while using cruise control. When setting my cruise control at any speed the speed can vary as much as 4 - 5 miles an hour both under and over the set speed. This is not only annoying to me but to others traveling behind or in front of me on the same roads.  I have seen drops in fuel mileage in "economy" mode while using cruise control and without but in all fairness this could be the nature of my build not the tune.  Overall I would say the ratio of price to overall performance is average while customer support and client services are well above average. I would consider this product for a different build and vehicle but I would not recommend it for a similar vehicle or build as mine.

Awesome product. My 2019 Colorado was running pretty good but just seemed sluggish under certain conditions. After uploading tune the difference was immediately noticeable. Throttle response is pleasantly enhanced. Acceleration is smooth and transmission shift points almost unnoticeable, except under hard acceleration. The takeoff hesitation is all but gone, which was my major complaint about my Colorado. I also gained a couple mpg. That was surprising considering how aggressively I have been driving. I use the economy mode most of the time but “play” occasionally in sport mode, with auto 4 wheel turned on to keep rear wheels from too much spinning. Highly recommend this product!

I recently started reading about upgrades that people were doing to their Colorados on the forums site.  I’ve done most of the other upgrades already like lights, wheels, etc.  I’ve never done a tune on my vehicles and now I’m sad that I hadn’t.  After downloading this tune for my truck, I would have loved to have it done on my previous Chevys as well.  Driving over the grapevine in to Los Angeles, I certainly feel the power when I’m going up the hill.  It’s allowed me to get myself out of some pretty uncomfortable situations.  I mash on the gas, and this thing MOVES!  I love how quick the response is now.  I usually drive in ECO mode when I’m on the highway, but there have been a couple of times that I switched it off just to get in and out of traffic.  The power seems instant now.  I certainly wish I would have found this sooner.

This is well worth the cost.  Love how my truck performs now and may upgrade now that I’m moving out of CA and can get an intake legally as well as an exhaust system.  058C6161-2F3B-4F9C-846D-67CB5D62B728.thumb.jpeg.40600568b8637031770ccf05f605c868.jpeg

Bought the tune to calibrate for when I move up to bigger tires soon. The performance boost is pretty great though! Better throttle response in normal(eco) mode, and a noticeable boost in power in Sport mode. Quick and easy installation!

Thanks!

Extremely satisfied with this tuner installed in my 2019 GMC Canyon All Terrain . It made the world of difference in performance ! I had installed larger tires and now the speedometer is now calibrated back to normal . The shift points are spot on when in ECO mode and in performance mode .This tuner really woke up this engine as it should have been right from the dealership . I also use the tow mode which made a world of difference also , Don't even feel the boat ! So glad I made the decision to purchase this . You will not be disappointed with their support team ether . Very knowledgeable ,supportive services ! I highly recommend this program and look forward to driving my truck every day ! Thanks again Trifecta !!
