These cars are used to develop our finished products via a combination of long-term street and dyno tuning, and are also used to ensure we can support any of the many available aftermarket parts for the Sonc. From intake and exhaust components, injectors, intercoolers, and aftermarket turbos, we test it all and validate our calibrations before they reach our customers vehicles. This method ensures the quality and reliability of our products, and allows us to offer competitive pricing no matter the complexity of a build.  We are dedicated to offering the highest level of service and support to all of our customers, before and especially long after the sale.
With our TRIFECTA Performance calibration, your Sonic will respond much more quickly to accelerator input, and automatic transmission shift patterns are optimized for maximum performance and responsiveness. During "everyday" driving maneuvers, the vehicle feels very much like it did from the factory, but rolling into the pedal quickly reveals a vehicle that wants to GO. Attentive, but without being "twitchy", power delivery is linear and transmission shifts are purposeful.
Key features of our product are:
Driver Selectable Vehicle Modes (“DSVM”):
TRIFECTA exclusively offers the ability to change between an “ECO” and a “Sport” driving mode, on the fly, via the arming state of the Cruise Control system.
Sport mode offers aggressive pedal response, more progressive downshifts, extended shift points, and maximizes power output. ECO mode offers economy-centric pedal response and shift points, and commands stock power levels when the Cruise Control system is Armed (but not necessarily engaged). Customers can optionally request a calibration that is ONLY Sport mode, or ONLY ECO mode to suit their needs. No-Lift-Shift (Manual Transmission):
For vehicles equipped with a manual transmission, No-Lift-Shift allows the driver to quickly execute a shift without lifting their foot off the accelerator pedal.  This allows the turbocharger to continue making boost, thus maintaining power through the shift.
  Automatic Transmission Recalibration:
In ECO mode, our transmission calibration provides smoother shifting and improved shift times while maintaining shift points optimized for fuel economy. In Sport mode, upshifts are more purposeful, and precisely timed progressive downshifts enable a more sporty feel while remaining closer to the correct gear for more of the time for quick transitions to sporty driving. Power and Performance:
Our calibration offers a reliable gain in power of up to +51 ft-lbs and +44 whp peak power on a totally stock Chevrolet Sonic 1.4T (LUJ/LUV).

Other Software Enhancements:
Enhanced octane adaptation constructs (including additional knock zones) which allow for more precise control over how the ECM responds to changes in octane bias - a bad tank of gas or adverse resonance from aftermarket components will be more readily identified. Added airflow-based constructs to account for adverse environmental conditions, especially when alternative fuels are used or an aftermarket turbocharger is installed.  This results in less reactive and more proactive changes in boost control. Thorough calibration of the ECM’s Virtual Torque Model - The torque model determines how much torque the ECM thinks the engine is making, and must be as correct as possible. TRIFECTA ECP.MK2 (Hybrid Speed Density) support and constructs added to enable support of modifications such as vent-to-atmosphere valves by mitigating transient fueling changes especially between shifts. Additional information:
This powertrain calibration includes a TRIFECTA powertrain calibration file specific to your vehicle and includes an EZ Flash Cable, which requires a Windows Laptop. Premium fuel is recommended for maximum power output, but not required. Advertised gains are quoted as 'up to' and may be less for a vehicle operated at altitudes higher than near sea level. Powertrain calibrations currently exist for all global variants of the Chevrolet Sonic with the LUJ/LUV engine.  
TRIFECTA Elite:
The TRIFECTA Elite Powertrain Recalibration includes calibration individualization, remote diagnostics, and comprehensive aftermarket hardware software integration support.  If you have any modifications which require tune customization, or have special requests, our Elite tier offers unlimited updates for mods/requests for as long as you own the vehicle. There are no extra charges once you choose Elite, and if you have Advantage already, you can simply upgrade to Elite for the difference in price at any time.

  • 17 Digit Vehicle Identification Number.

    Must be exactly 17 digits, 9th digit must be 0--9 or 'X', and cannot contain characters 'I', 'O', or 'Q'.

    We recommend acquiring the VIN directly from the vehicle's VIN Plaque on the dash, or the certification label in the door jamb since insurance and service documents are sometimes incorrect.

  • What is this?

  • An Additional Fuel Pump Control Module / Chassis Control Module calibration is provided when 60lb injectors are selected. We also include the ability to flash this module back to stock.

    You do not need to remove or purchase an aftermarket FPCM/CCM, since we are able to tune your factory unit.

  • 42lb or 60lb Injectors are required for this option, as well as an Alcohol Composition aka Flex Fuel sensor.

  • What is this?

  • Special engine calibration provisions are required to compensate for metered air that is expelled from the system during bypass events when the vehicle is equipped with a vent-to-atmosphere style bypass valve.

  • Leave blank for no adjustment

    e.g. Enter 62 if your GPS reads 62mph when your dash reads 60mph

    If you have aftermarket gears: The value for this field should be relative to the factory gears.

    • If you've upgraded to 4.10 gears, and the vehicle had 3.42 gears stock, then the GPS might read 50mph.

      60mph * (3.42/4.10) = 50mph, or no adjustment, so leave this field blank.

    • If you have aftermarket gears and larger tires that read 55mph, then you might end up with something like:

      55mph - (60mph * (3.42/4.10)) = 5mph skew

      5mph + 60mph = 65mph relative to stock gears.

    • If you have aftermarket gears which we have already issued a calibration for and are installing larger tires, then you can simply provide the GPS skew directly from your GPS device.

    For vehicles with aftermarket wheels and tires. Actual Speed (per GPS device) when Speedometer Indicates 60mph

    Larger numbers mean larger-than-stock tires, Smaller numbers mean smaller-than-stock tires.

    Requests for raising of speed limiter require photographic evidence of speed rating on tire sidewall, submitted via Support Request.

I purchased the Elite Tune for my 2019 Sonic 1.4T Hatch. With my mods and this tune, the car is unrecognizable. Quick response to get initial tune after my unlock code was sent.

I bought this for my 2015 sonic turbo and went ahead and got the elite package. This is a great product and just the new tune from stock setting was a fairly big inprovement! The biggest thing that I have loved is that as im slowly building the car I can have it always up to date on its tunes. The elite package is definatly worth the money i would recomend it if you plan on doing any modifications to the motor or exhaust in the future.  I dont have a single complaint and trifecta has far exceeded my expectations!

I bought this tune as a gift for my girlfriend and it has been nothing short of perfect. She absolutely loved the tune, noticed an immediate increase in power and overall performance, and overall just makes the car more drivable. 100/10 phenomenal product and amazing support.

i was really skeptic about a tune for my sonic i made the purchase with a quit few concerns but srsly now ... its literally realese the beast.

still 4 cyl 1.4 engine yea? proportions ...

fuel economy aspect- 

still no change for me, it still same a it was before. i would give it a bit more time since i am in quarantine here so the travels are very low.

gear aspect -

the gears change are more aggresive, no more kick downs for intermediate circumferences, just a little go on the gas.

power aspect-

you can feel the change rite after the install, it feels like you allways have an avalible power when ever you need, its really nice. 

you can even feel the power at 6th gear on 110-125 km/h unlike before.

i recommend on trifecta not just because the tune but also because their customers service wich allways there for you, and im not over reacting or bot.

I read all of the previous reviews and forums on this tune before I bought it and I have to say it was well worth it. If you want a way to make the sonic come to life and make it even more fun to drive then this is what you need. The difference is night and day. It’s hard to read the reviews and trust what people are saying but I’m telling you everything that everyone has said about this tune is true and as long as you follow the instructions right then it’s as easy as a click to install. I also tinkered around with the flash tool and I love the other features that it offers. I would highly suggest to get the elite package if your tuning that way you can get updates with all of the upgrades you install. I appreciate the high level of customer service with their quick responses to questions and the work that the programmers put in to make this possible. Great job Trifecta team!

For starters I'm in Denver so my elevation it's 5000+ get all the time.

 

This tune is a night and day difference, and really opens 6th gear up at lower speeds for practical use.

The engine has a fairly narrow power band so, the tune isn't going to fix that. Once you're in the power it pulls like a different car altogether.

 

The gas mileage will tend to go way way down, this is to be expected if you actually use it though. If you drive light you can still get close to stock mileage.

I wish the driving mode selection was more like the one Cobb uses for other cars.

 

My only real gripe about this tune is it goes into the body a little quickly, the slightest use of the gas pedal can put you way into it, so it really means you gave to use eco mode a lot of you don't want to constantly be on the boost. Having a more gradual or adjustable feel to the throttle would be nice.

There will be a long preface to this review explaining why I can't give the tune 5 stars. See TL:DR below.

I live in Denver and for anyone who hasn't driven a car at high altitudes, it is a major annoyance. A car that feels quick at sea level will feel sluggish up here. It is a MAJOR difference and for naturally aspirated engines can mean up to a 2.2 second difference in the quarter mile. Turbocharged cars can help eliminate this difference by making up for the lack of atmospheric pressure with additional boost from the turbocharger. The Sonic has this function from the factory to help the car make similar power levels at different altitudes so the turbo is already pushing more pressure than it would at sea level. The tune was not the mind blowing power difference I was hoping for and I can understand that the turbo can only be spun so fast until reliability issues would creep in.

However, the tune definitely woke the car up big time, especially at partial throttle and the overall throttle response is excellent. Even in 'factory' mode, the car is a lot more fun to drive. The issue I seem to be having is just with consistency in 'tuned' mode and I think it just comes down to altitude and the inter cooler suffering from heat soak.

 

TL:DR: At low altitudes, this tune would turn your Sonic into a mini monster. At high altitudes it is a worthwhile upgrade that offers good bang for the buck.

Lol so far this has been great, enough power to finally pass someone and keep up with others. Make sure when you tune to keep your car fully charged or have a battery tender on it. Save the headache I had. Besides that one hiccup from my end this has been a very reliable company and brand. Trifecta forever

I purchased Trifectas elite tune for my Chevy Sonic 1.4 on black friday as my christmas gift and i will confirm that not only has the results been mind blowing, the customer service has gone above and beyond words, i had my first calibration in 2 days, it actually took longer for the usb port cable to arrive. I had 4 calibrations in total over a week and a half time with top results along with the support back and forth regarding any concerns I might have with my boost levels etc. Steven Vince and the rest of the trifecta group have been nothing short of amazing with the performace they have delivered to my build thus far and i will continue to enjoy the journey moving forward as i continue to add to my build and complete my vision power wise for where i want this little monster to go.

Hoping to finally sometime meet The Man Vince in person and have him dyno my setup.

Trifecta team and support are absolutely amazing. fast responses and great product. very knowledgeable team!. i currently have a 2018 sonic rs with all bolt ons, zzp turbo, bigger throttle body, e85 flex fuel, bigger injectors and so on...… and trifecta is supporting this car 200% car runs great and pulls very hard for being a 1.4l Anyways when my car was stock and just tuned from them there is a huge difference as well!!! so if you want some more good useable power and don't want to mod your car i also highly recommend it!!!!

I purchased this tune on December 27th. It was part of Trifecta's Black Friday sale. It was $348 for the Elite compared to $498. I received the EZ Flash Cable in the mail on December 2nd! Connected the Cable to my Mac (Running Windows 10) and via a USB-C Adapter. A Video is included in the EZ Flash Cable Guide, which shows you the program in action, and instructs you on how to put your vehicle in Permanent Accessory mode (for those with Push Button Ignitions). Once I sent them a screenshot of my ECM Security Code, and VIN for Verification, I received my Tune Calibration in literally 5hrs. Once I received the TRX file (File that is flashed to the vehicle) I connected the vehicle again, and Initiated the Programming. From start to end, it took roughly 10mins. When it's completed, I turned the car off, disconnected the cables, and started the car. I took the car for a drive. 

 

I AM TELLING YOU, THE CAR SHIFTS SMOOTHER, SHIFTS FASTER, and When Cruising, I've been seeing MPG improvements UP TO 20% Better! The Shifts are Aggressive! I can pretty much maintain speed with a Mustang GT 5.0 (The Sonic is roughly 600lbs lighter.) I'm lightning quick off the line from a light! I've been finding any excuse to drive it! This is how the car should have came from the factory. Worth every penny! This Tune in Combination with a ZZP Cold Air Intake, literally gives you the feeling of owning a brand new car for under $600 combined. If you purchase the Elite Tune, you get free of charge calibrations for any added mods after the time of Purchase!

I am a commuter that drives 120 miles round-trip per day. I drive a 2013 Chevy Sonic sedan with the trifecta elite package. I can now get 40 plus miles per gallon with my 6 speed manual, and as important I know have passing power that was missing stock. Love this tune and the service I have got from trifecta when I had an issue with my car. They helped figure out through their software that I needed to replace the pcv that was built in my valve cover. Couldn't ask for more.

Amazing difference... Kudos to Trifecta for the easiest 1.4T 93 / E85 performance option!!!

 

I received two performance programs for my Sonic RS, One for use on 93 Octane, and one for use on E85. I can't believe the difference. I did install 42# Bosch injectors (very quick and easy BTW), and loaded the 93 program. The power with the performance flash is remarkable. I do notice that when I change programs (using the cruise on / off button on my steering wheel), it takes 5-10 seconds for the program to shift - I didn't realize there would be a delay when changing, but no big deal.

 

This morning I filled up on E85 and installed the program flash for the higher octane. Again, a boost in power. I see that I'll have to get very used to this upgrade as I very much feel the traction control cutting power when accelerating quickly. I love that Trifecta was able to provide me two programs however that I can toggle back and forth to tell the ECM / TCM what type of fuel is in the tank and how to perform. This allowed me to totally bypass the installation of an ethanol sensor that would tell the ECM what mix to run at. Of course I need to either run E85 or 93, but so be it... not that difficult.

 

Superb results Trifecta to turn my 138 HP Stock RS into what I'm guesstimating is close 190 HP at a cost much lower that I would have paid with other E85 ready options.

 

 

PROS TO MY SOLUTION:

 

Power is amazing

Easy to Install

No ethanol sensor needed

Great cost by comparison

"As advertised" for my 2014 Sonic LT Hatch. From the new stock calibration to the performance calibration, this tune is very effective and highly refined. The stock setting is vastly improved over the 2014 MY OEM calibration, with more linear power delivery, virtually no intrusion of the OEM transmission control logic (are the clutches applied? let's see...), better idle quality, and smoother garage shifting (P-R-D-R-P). The switching to performance via the cruise control master switch brings the powertrain instantly alive from a standstill all the way through extra-legal highway speeds. The throttle response and shifting are crisp, while the refinement remains. It works extremely well with the K&N Typhoon CAI I installed. Rolling anti-lag in moderate city traffic makes for an effortless commute. Fuel economy is improved. The ability to go stock in the low-speed stop & go and switch to something more is a great feature. While it's not quite as fun as my 2013 Boxster S, it's made this little commuter car far more pleasurable to drive. Outstanding. Looking forward to a similarly effective tune for our company's 2016 Colorado 2.5L work truck.
